Mayor C.L. “Buster” Brown announced, at the end of Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the new appointments to the Corsicana Heritage Preservation Commission.The appointments were made after a letter was received from CHPC officer, Malinda Payne Sharpley, indicating five places needed to be filled in January.The new appointments named were Charles Williams, Judith Steely, and Lowell Dunn each serving three-year terms. Hugh Stroube will serve a two-year term, while Larry Turner will serve a one-year term.The new members replaced Jason Manning, Bill Young, Todd Jones, Steve Mason, and Bill Belote whose terms were completed or were no longer able to serve on the commission.They will join current members Brad Cook, Brenda Duron, Jerry Steely, and John Yates.The Corsicana Heritage Preservation Commission’s goal is to protect and preserve places and areas of historical and cultural importance and significance and to designate places and areas of historic and cultural importance, and to regulate and restrict the construction, alteration, reconstruction, or razing of buildings and other structures to maintain heritage and property values.
