United Way held its annual award luncheon on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Napoli’s. At least 17 trusts and foundations contributed just under $160,000, with corporate donations totaling $158,000. Nearly $65,000 was collected by various businesses and individuals throughout the community. Holloman said approximately $393,500 was pledged by the businesses, corporations, and individuals along with the trusts and foundations. “We were very pleased,” Holloman said, “to make our goal. We were concerned this year about making our goal since the economy is a little unstable at the moment. In fact, some of our top ten pledges increased their pledge this year, so we were pleased overall with the campaign.”
