Navarro College students Ross McCollom, left, and Kristin Richardson, right, were the first to receive their order at the opening of the new Wing Stop Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
Finally!

If you have been driving by to see if Wing Stop, located on the corner of West Seventh Avenue and South Twenty-fourth Street, is open … well … your wait is finally over.

Wing Stop made a soft opening Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. and it didn’t take long for the word to spread as customers flock in by the droves to get a sample of their favorite chicken wings.

Navarro College students Ross McCollom and Kristin Richardson were the first to receive their order, and were more than satisfied with their food.

“I ordered the Atomic wings,” McCollom said. “Man, they are good … I’m sweating over here!”

“All of their wings are good,” Kristin said!

A few minutes later I caught up with Kristin at the drink dispenser.

“Back for a refill … again,” She said.

“This must be about your fourth trip to get something to drink,” I said, grinning.

“Fourth for me!” She said, laughing.

Everyone seemed to be having a good time including Corsicana City Councilman Stephen Andrews and Navarro County Commissioner Faith Holt as they chowed down.

“I was talking to Faith earlier,” Andrews said, “and I told her I had several Wing Stop locations on my speed dial. She laughed as she told me she did the same thing, adding several Wing Stop phone numbers in her cell phone … she visits them frequently, like I do, when in the D/FW area.”

Andrews gave the newest Wing Stop location a thumbs up!

Andrews and Holt both agreed that Wing Stop is their favorite place for hot wings.

Councilwoman Ruby Andrews, Corsicana Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Paul Hooper, and Doris Horn, with the Texas Workforce Commission, soon joined the two.

Navarro County Times Editor, Julianne Dodge, was pleased, and noted that she had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

“It was wonderful,” Dodge said. “I highly recommend the lemon pepper wings … they are delicious!”

Our sales associates, Christy Jackson and Rosalie DeCorte, also enjoyed the boneless Original Hot and Garlic Parmesan.

As for me, I had the Cajun style, and, in the words of Ross McCollom, I too, was sweating bullets … but they were darn good as I wolfed down every bite!

Unlike Kristen, I only had two refills!

Wing Stop offers a variety of wings from Atomic, Cajun, Original Hot, Mild, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, Hawaiian, and Teriyaki.

You can order your favorite wings from 10 to 100 piece, or you can order your favorite in the boneless variety as well.

Combo meals and family packs are available and a variety of side orders from fresh cut fries to Bourbon baked beans are made to order, too.

Patrick Stearman, General Manager, welcomed everyone that came in and declared, “we’re finally open!”

“We are pleased that everyone came out today,” Stearman said. “We hope everyone enjoyed their food and will come and visit us again real soon.”
