Bishop K.D. Davis, Sr., the pastor of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, is dedicated to strengthening families. He is debuting a new CD, “For The Best Results – Follow the Instructions,” whose message is targeted to both children and their parents. “The message is targeted toward our youth. It’s to challenge us to step up to the plate, to be the parents God wants us to be, to train up our children that they will be assets to society...to make a positive change there. We’ve got a big challenge there right now,” Bishop Davis said.
The CD features a live recording of gospel singing, praying and preaching. Davis is passionate about helping youth overcome obstacles they may be facing, and to let them know that there are people who will be there to support them. “I want people to know that it is time for us to really be about winning our children. It’s important to reach our children where they are, and challenge them not to remain where they are, but go to the next level. That’s important to me,” Davis said. “We already know they are challenged by drugs, gangs, alcohol, dysfunctional families...we already know they’re in the real world. We need to meet them in that world and not leave them where they are.” Davis is dedicating this CD to an important role model in his life, his “Big Momma.” His grandmother, Viola Davis, who is now 95 years old, raised Davis. He credits her for taking him under her wings and teaching him God’s instructions. The lessons he learned from his grandmother was a motivation in making the inspirational CD. “I didn’t want my children and my grandchildren to forget where we came from,” he said. “Train up a child in the way they should go and ...and when they go they won’t depart from it.” Davis will be debuting his new release at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church on Sunday, June 29, 2008 beginning at 6:30 p.m. He will also have debuts in Dallas at the Calvary Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church on June 28, and in Fort Worth at Harvey Ave. Baptist Church on June 27, 2008. The CD will be available for purchase at these events as well as at The Ark and at Sixth Ave. Baptist Church. He is in negotiations with Wal-Mart Stores to carry the new release as well. |
