The 4-H Horsemanship School was held Monday through Wednesday at the Willis Arena. It has been four years since the last clinic and it was mainly due to a lack of funds. Briattanie Sutton & Haley Lamaster from Texas A&M conducted the clinic and said that this was one of the best clinics this year. This one will would be the last clinic for this year. Jo Barrow donated a horse to be raffled off and Debbie Smith won this lovely red colt. She then gave it to Jamie Williams who said, “I love him so much and I can’t wait to get him broke to ride him, he’s already halter broke.” The raffling of this colt paid for the instructors, food and everything at this clinic. A.J. Loscuito and Martha Williams head up the Navarro County 4-H Horse Club. They both give each other the credit for the success of their small but worthy club. The 4-H club has gone to District and placed fourth & fifth in District, and tenth in State. They competed in the horse quiz bowl and they learn a lot about the horses, which really helps them to become better riders. They hope to put on a clinic every year and would welcome anybody to join their club; they meet on the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 2 pm to 4 pm at Willis Arena located on Roane Road in Corsicana.
