On April 25, 2008, the lives of Bruce Holman, his wife Elizabeth and two small children changed forever when he was severely injured in a car accident. It has been nearly three full months since the accident, and Bruce is adapting. He is ready to go back to work and eagerly awaiting the arrival of his new leg in a few days. Bruce is a graduate of Frost High School, class of 2000, currently living in Plano in order to be near his physical therapist. Frost, with help from the Mertens Fire Department, held a fundraiser on Saturday, July 19 at the city park to help cover the medical expenses for Homan. Bruce's mother, Linda Meskimen, and his school buddy, Brent Jones, organized the barbeque dinner, silent and live auctions, and then helped serve the meal, as Bruce visited with old friends and guests.
Although he has to rely on crutches until he gets his new leg, his attitude is upbeat. Linda says that Bruce had a positive attitude even as a boy and that it makes a lot of difference in his healing.Although this is the last fundraiser, anyone who would like to donate money in Bruce's name to help defray the accident-related costs may do so at one of the area Community Banks located in Frost, Buffalo, Corsicana and Richland Chambers. |
