City mail carrier for the US Postal Service, Donnie Evett, passed away from injuries sustained during an accident Tuesday.  He was 37 years old. 

 

Evett was driving his mail van on the route Tuesday, when he was struck by a construction truck who had run the red light at the intersection of Business 45 and First Avenue.  Evett was careflighted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he was put on life-support, until his death sometime on Wednesday.  The accident is still under investigation by local law enforcement and the USPS Safety Division. 

 

Evett is survived by his wife, Jackie Evett and daughters, Madison and Makenzie of Corsicana. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at the First Baptist Church in Corsicana.  Our condolences go to Mr. Evett’s family and friends.

Mr. Donnie Evett, 37, of Corsicana passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on April 1, 1971 in Woodville, Texas.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Corsicana. He was a postal carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He had been in this community for the past five years.

 

Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Corley Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at First Baptist Church with Dr. David Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Smallwood, Josh Gober, Nick Rodriguez, Jeremy Prater, David Taylor, and Jim Stacy.

 

Mr. Evett was preceded in death by his Twin Brother; Ronnie Gene Evett, Great Nephew; Landon Gene Evett, Grandparents; Wid & Iva Mae Evett and Josh & Mae “Maw” Phillips, and a Brother-in-Law; Curtis Hankins.

 

He is survived by his Wife; Jackie Evett of Corsicana, TX. , Daughters; Madison & Makenzie Evett of Corsicana, TX., Mother; Pauline Spinks of Corsicana, TX., Father; Dempsey Evett of Zavalla, TX., Brothers & Sisters-in-Law; Jerry & Linda Evett of Huntington, TX., Garry & Aleatha Evett of Huntington, TX., Bruce & Angie Evett of Huntington, TX., Delton & Denise Evett of Hudson, TX., and Rev.
