September 1, 1942 – July 27, 2008 Ennette H. (Net) Scott Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday July 27, 2008 at Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana. Net was born in McComb Mississippi on September 1, 1942 to Ennette H. Scott Sr. and Virginia Finch Scott. He was the oldest of two children. He is preceded in death by his younger brother John Thomas Scott, parents and son Martin Joseph Scott. He graduated from Vicksburg High School in Vicksburg Mississippi in 1960, and he took his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of North Texas, majoring in marketing. Her served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970. He was a manager for Woolworth Stores in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi during the 1960's and 1970's. He owned a Ben Franklin Store in Whitesboro Texas from 1975 to 1983. Survivors include his wife Venetia Coker Scott; sons Lt. Cmdr. James Ennette Scott and wife Moni of Gretna Nebraska, David Smith and wife Dena of Purdon, Mike Smith and wife Kim of Washington Michigan, Jeff Smith of Corsicana. Daughters Toni Scott Reed and husband Joe of Dallas, Beverly Herrin and husband Tom of Corsicana, Lynn Perry and husband Tracy of Mt. Enterprise. GrandchildrenJames Martin Scott and Madison Rosalee Scott of Gretna Nebraska, Jackson Scott Reed and Conner Joseph Reed of Dallas, Jeramy Herrin and wife Kathleen of Corsicana, Zachary Herrin and wife Laura of Corsicana, Virginia Laird and husband Dave of Corsicana, Genevieve Herrin, Ethan Herrin and Lexi Herrin all of Corsicana, Jordan Smith of Denton, Casie, Emily and Johnna Smith of Purdon, Brody Perry and wife Traci of Mt. Enterprise, Blaine Perry of Mt. Enterprise, Megan Smith of Toronto Canada, Luke, Emma, and Elise of Washington Michigan. Great Grandchildren Jessie and Kole Herrin of Corsicana, Elena and Audrey Herrin of Corsicana, Adie Laird of Corsicana. Brothers and sisters in law Charles and Reva Horton of Corsicana, Don and Melba Manley of Blooming Grove. Beloved niece Katy Manley and great nephew Wade of Blooming Grove. He was employed at the time of his death with Wal Mart Corporation at the Corsicana store as a Training Cordinator. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He was an active memeber of St. Lukes Methodist Church where he served at many capacities. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He loved coaching for Special Olympics and working with the special athletes including his beloved son, Jeff Smith. He was known as "Coach" by all the special athletes. When his work schedule permitted he loved attending Kiwanis and looked forward to working the Kiwanis Basketball Tournament at Navarro College each December.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday July 30, 2008 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 2:30 pm Thursday July 31, 2008 at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joe Norwood, Don Manley, Cris Smithheart, Ken Authier, Jerry Smith, Charles Horton, Ronald Whitehead, Lewis Mathison. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Walker, Terry Smith, Bill Bergery, Don Massey, Danny Townley, Roger Warner, Raymond Davidson.
