This past Monday the Visitor Center of Corsicana said good-bye to a dear friend and colleague, Sandy Lewis.  Ms. Lewis has been with the center since April 12,2006, just before the center opened up to the public.  She is a retired teacher having taught in Tyler, Corsicana, Terrell and Japan. Most of her 37-year career consisted of teaching fourth grade.  She loved the children and had a great time moving around but finally settled in Corsicana.

Ms. Lewis has a son, Lee who followed his mother into teaching and became a principal in Crossroads.

Ms. Lewis retired in 2003 and volunteered at different places before she came to work for the Visitor Center. She organized all the volunteers that help out at the center and carefully constructed all of the day-to-day matters of the center. When a person walks into the center, Ms. Lewis begins the visit with the history of the center and can give help provide any information a visitor to Corsicana would need.

She is truly a wonderful person and the Visitor Center personnel are going to miss her.  Ms. Lewis is leaving to take care of her mother, but will still find the time to volunteer and help out where she is needed. The sentiments of her co-workers were that Sandy Lewis is irreplaceable and it will be a tough job finding her replacement.  Everyone at the Visitor Center will miss Ms. Sandy Lewis.
