Corsicana’s Visionaries in Preservation (VIP) organization will meet to hear about Heritage Tourism, promoting Corsicana’s unique history as part of the community’s preservation action plan on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Temple Beth El. VIP is the community-planning program of the Texas Historical Commission. VIP asks how you want your community to look and feel and provides tools to help Corsicana retain its identity and sense of place as it grows and changes.

Corsicana’s VIP program will meet just once a month for the remainder of the year. At the end of the program, Corsicana will have a preservation action plan that will make our historic buildings and other assets fundamental parts of continued economic and cultural growth.  In the June & July meetings, Corsicana’s visionaries identified important preservation and livability issues throughout town and learned about modern preservation practice, and are creating a plan to address the issues.

Your participation is essential! Even if you could not make it to the previous meetings, you can still take part in this important group.  Call Corsicana’s VIP Chair Lowell Dunn, 903-874-1199 or Malinda Payne-Sharpley, 903-654-4851, for more information.
