Stacy Arnold, Navarro College guitar instructor, will perform a classical guitar solo on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Cook Education Center, located on the Corsicana campus. Arnold is an accomplished guitarist and has an extensive performing and teaching background. He has been a featured performer for many notable venues, such as the Dallas City Arts Festival, and has also performed for the Opryland Hotel, SMU, Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Fort Worth Hilton, to name a few. Arnold holds a Master of Music degree from SMU where he was a scholarship student and graduate teaching assistant of world-renowned performer and teacher, Robert Guthrie. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar performance from Middle Tennessee State University. Arnold has previously directed the guitar program at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, North Central Texas College, and Hill College. He has also served as an alumni guitar instructor in the community education program in connection with the Meadows School of Music at SMU and is currently serving as artist in residence with Waxahachie Classical (WaxaClassical.com). Many of Arnold’s students are active performers and teachers and hold positions as the heads of guitar departments on university campuses. His students have been scholarship recipients at SMU and Southwestern Assemblies of God University and have been active participants in master classes and recitals at classical guitar workshops/festivals.
