Corsicana, are you ready to start your day with a hop, skip, and a jump and end your day with a song in your heart? Well now you can! Thanks to Chris Simmons the new owner of Caffe Gourmet at 129 W. Collins Ave in Corsicana.

Chris Simmons is one of the most passionate men that I have ever had the honor to meet. Chris has found away to combine all of his passions and put them into one unique place. And this place is the new Caffe Gourmet.

The best way to describe Caffe Gourmet is to start with breakfast. From the minute you step foot into Caffe Gourmet, Chris makes you feel as if you are an old friend and he is making breakfast especially for you. Caffe Gourmet has everything from regular coffee to Cappuccion, Latte, and espresso. But do not worry, if you are not a coffee person Caffe Gourmet also serves sodas, ice tea, and hot tea. Along with your coffee, you can get the best breakfast croissants you have ever had. If you want a plain croissant or if you perfer your croissant with egg, cheese, ham, or turkey you can get it at Caffe Gourmet.

Now it is time for lunch. And what better place to go then to Caffe Gourmet. Chris will be there with a smile on his face and a big hardy welcome. Caffe Gourmet has salad's that range from house salad's to grilled chicken salad's. Chris also serves all types of sandwiches. But, the sandwich that Chris is the most proud of is his sandwich that he calls the Corsicanaina. And I am here to tell you that this is a must have sandwich. The Corsicanaina comes on a grilled bun with four different types of cheese's. If you want a little something different for lunch the Corsicanaina is the sandwich for you.

Chris Simmons is not only the owner of Caffe Gourmet but he is also a poet. This is where the unique twist comes in to play. Being a poet, Chris has a very strong love for the arts. Chris has noticed the same thing about Navarro County that I noticed. There is more talent in this county then you could ever imagine. So, Chris has opened his doors up to the arts.

When I ask Chris how he was going to combine the arts with Caffe Gourmet his face just lit up with excitement. He told me that Friday night is Poetry night, so I was there to see what all of the excitement was about. And excitement is exactly what Chris Simmons has created at Caffe Gourmet.

When I first got to Caffe Gourmet, Chris had jazz softly playing in the back ground. I sat down and ordered an espresso and Chris began to explain to me all of his plans for Caffe Gourmet. Chris told me that Caffe Gourmet is not only a place where people can come and get good food and a great cup of coffee, but it is a place where you can truly experience some of the extraordinary talents that the artist in Navarro County has to offer.

Chris Simmons wants to feel the walls of Caffe Gourmet with the art works of local artist. He tells me that he wants everything from paintings to drawings to photo's. He says that these artist can hang their art work up in Caffe Gourmet so they can have the opportunity to show off their talents and hopefully sell and few pieces. Chris also wants to feel the air with the sounds of jazz and blues so people can hear just how much talent that these local musicians have to offer.

He has created a stage where poets can come an perform their poetry on Friday nights. Chris has also created a place where you can go to turn your typical Friday night into an extraordinary Friday night.    So if you like wonderful food, excellent coffee and magnificent entertainment, Caffe Gourmet is the place for you.
